Career Change Options for Young Urban Professionals -Part 1
Did it occur to you one day that you are pursuing the wrong career? The pay you earn, perks you enjoy, and the people you work with are great, but somehow you feel that you are not moving on with a career purpose.
Fulfillment and joy of working is lost or has waned considerably to the point of losing your effectiveness on the job and marring your credibility at work. The result: you perpetuate you existence in your organization. Have you considered a career change?
Young urban professionals or yuppies end to be too mobile in their early years of working. An informal survey, among professional recruiters and HR practitioners, reveals that the first 3 years of a yuppie’s career is seen to be unstable. Majority of younger yuppies that have just started working have a tendency to jump from one organization to the next, or test other field of professions until they settle down to one, at least 3 times every two years. However, for those who stayed and progressed through their careers tend to become jittery after 5 or 7 years on the same job or profession. Hence, you’d commonly see yuppies or young professionals that have degrees in business, engineering, or medical technology, yet are pursuing an entirely different field.
What is the implication of these things to us? How do we move from one career to another? Is fulfillment foremost in our career goals or money?
Your thoughts are much appreciated. Let us hear them out.

I think this is most often true. I recently started trying to write a book of advice to young professionals. I sent out a survey and although I have only gotten a few back only one of the individuals stated that they did not question their career choice once the entered the field. I wonder what exactly goes wrong. Did we prepare wrong, have inappropriate expectations? Are we just hitting challenges that we didn’t expect to be so strong? Does our lifestyle and interests since we had to spend so much time focusing on one topic at school? Is school simply not a good representation of the fields? For me I’m not sure i following my most honest interests when I was younger.
Money and excelling both matter in changing a career path!
