About

Why I blog?

I started blogging for myself. I never had the intention of publishing any of the articles and notes I have written. What prompted me though is the idea to share motivational insights about work, life, and personal development with my office staff. The intent was to hammer down what I normally teach them in meetings and in formal training sessions.

The radical shift from a private blog into a public one carries with it a huge responsibility. For one, I am no longer writing to express what I think and feel at the moment, having myself as my only audience. Two, I have to write in order to encourage, instruct, and share pertinent info with my staff, friends and a few relatives as my added audience. Hence I started blogging with a different intent, wrote and posted more entries more frequent, and on a regular basis. More so, I started blogging in a more formal tone, and posted varied useful topics addressed to their (perceived / assumed) needs. It was rigorous, yet fulfilling, especially when reading their comments. I grew with them in the process.

Then a few months ago, another paradigm shift in my blogging took place. My audience grew not only in numbers but in context. Now, the demand and responsibility is greater. Due to the unsolicited responses I received from other readers whom I never met in person (like you), my blogging for a universal audience begun. It was a greater challenge, but I headed for it with gusto. It was an exhilarating feat.

Why another blog?

You might have read my two other blogs: My Sense and Sensibility, Including My ‘Non-senses’ and Young Urban Professionals’ nOOk. You wonder why another blog on yuppies? First, it is a great market niche; second, the term ‘yuppie’ has evolved to mean working professionals across political and social strata; and lastly, I am still a yuppie –I must say.

What I bring with me in this blog are experiences and insights I gained from my more than 15 years of corporate life, particularly in Human Resource Management. I love to help yuppies get through their careers and personal lives with a sense of direction, purpose, and meaning. I will be sharing practical tips to accomplish that end. However, I will be approaching this like a co-learner, because I believe that there is so much to be learned from you.

Who am I?

Currently, I am a freelance Management Systems Consultant whose forte is Training, Organizational Development, Labor Relations, Management Systems Implementation, and Audit. I am a single dad who is currently enjoying fathering a very vibrant two-year old boy. I date. Yeah, why not. I love watching movies, snorkeling, and reading novels by Grisham, Higgins, Clancy, and Ludlum. I also enjoy theological, philosophical, and political discussions -that is, whenever I am AFK.

I still consider myself a novice in blogging and social media, but I am aggressively learning the rudiments from probloggers’ blogs I chance to read. Blogging is fun, especially when you make extra money on the side.
